EREVETS – Empowering the Renewable Energy Sector through VET Support in Sierra Leone
The EREVETS project addresses the urgent need for skilled professionals in Sierra Leone’s renewable energy (RE) sector by enhancing the capacity of local TVET institutions. Currently, RE skills and sustainable practices are not fully integrated into TVET curricula, creating a skills gap that hampers the country’s energy transition and green growth. EREVETS strengthens institutional capacities, aligns VET programs with market and policy needs, fosters industry-academia-public sector collaboration, and promotes gender inclusivity in RE education and careers.Through collaboration with TVET institutions, a local university, government partners, and private sector stakeholders, the project will:• Strengthen VET providers’ capacity to deliver high-quality training in RE technologies by equipping them with expertise, infrastructure, and pedagogical tools.• Align VET curricula with national policies, international priorities, and labour market demands through strong cooperation with industry and public agencies.• Foster entrepreneurship in RE by equipping VET graduates with business skills, management training, and incubation support to drive innovation and expand employment.• Promote gender inclusivity by ensuring equal access to RE training and careers through targeted outreach and support mechanisms. The consortium includes two universities (one from Europe and one from Sierra Leone), three VET institutions (one from Europe and two from Sierra Leone), and a business association representing private sector investments in RE. This diverse partnership integrates local expertise, international best practices, and policy influence, positioning Sierra Leone’s TVET system as a key driver of sustainable energy transitions and economic growth.
